This organization has been in existence and operating as African Senior Group under the African Canadian Social Development Council (ACSDC) for over the last 10 (ten) years.
We believe in improving the quality of life of our African seniors through lifestyle changes that can be brought about through training and activities of social interaction. In the last two years, the effect of COVID-19 has had a heavy impact on the lives of seniors as they were isolated and needed assistance for many aspects of daily living, such as food and medical support. We are glad that other agencies under the African Canadian Social Development Council, as sister agencies, offered great support in the form of food supplies and gift cards.
ACSN, through the assistance of the Canadian government, have created training on the use of technology. The seniors have had access to the use of computers and tablets to enable them to improve communication links with their friends and relatives during the isolation period. This project has brought smiles to their faces as they are able to have Zoom sessions with several interactive events and activities across the community and the world.
