Kenyan Canadian Association (KCA) held the inaugural International Women's Day Workshop & Celebration Dinner on March 11, 2023, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The colourful event was grace by invited local and international dignitaries and special guests.
The Chief Guest was The Spouse of The Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. Pastor Dr. Dorcas Rigathi EGH, who received an award from KCA for championing Gender Equality and the plight of the Boy Child. H.E. Pastor Dr. Dorcas Rigathi was welcomed to the City by His Worship Patrick Brown, The Mayor of Brampton.
She was accompanied to the event by Kenya High Commissioner to Canada H.E. Amb. Immaculate Wambua and Kenya Honorary Consul in Toronto Mr. Sunir Chandaria. Other Canadian Political Leaders who graced the event include Brampton North MP Hon. Ruby Sahota, MPP of Brampton Centre and Ontario Minister of Women's Social and Economic Opportunity. Hon. Charmaine Williams and Brampton North MPP Hon. Graham McGregor.
The elegant event was organized by KCA through Women & Gender Affairs Program headed by Jackie Kariuki. Speaking at the dinner, KCA President & Executive Director Ephraim Mwaura, urged the women to continue working towards addressing Gender-based Violence and Gender Equality by leveraging current innovation and technology in line with 2023 United Nations theme of "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality".
