Ghanaian-Canadian Resource Hub Opened In Toronto

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, the African Canadian Social Development Council (ACSDC) hosted its annual Black History Month Event at the Dome-nico Diluca Community Recreation Centre in North York. This year's theme, "Let Us Arise and Build," brought together community leaders, artists, and community members for an inspiring evening of cultural pride, recognition, and connection.
The celebration opened with a powerful welcome from ACSDC President Mr. Kabu Asante, followed by remarks from guest of honour Faisal Hassan, Ontario NDP candidate for York South-Weston. Community leaders also shared messages that echoed a shared commitment to equity and Black empowerment.
Cultural performances brought the evening to life, including a captivating Adowa dance, a compelling keynote by retired Constable Ojo Tewogbade, and dynamic showcases by artist Kofi Oduro and Burundian dance troupe Connect Burundi: lndanga. One of the evening's most memorable moments was the Community Rec-ognition Ceremony, which recognized individuals for their exceptional contributions to preserving and promoting African cultural heritage. The evening concluded with heartfelt closing remarks re-affirming ACSDC's dedication to uplifting African Canadian communities through culture, advocacy, and unity.
